# Pets & Pet Essence

Pets & Pet Essence — current Bloodlust RO guide, reviewed 27 September 2026.

Visit **Pet System** at `mall01 135 103` for combinations, S-rank rerolls and fragment exchange. Pet acquisition starts at **Pet Researcher**, nearby at `mall01 135 99`.

## Pet Essence and your first egg

Hunt monsters for **Pet Essence (#40262)**. Exchange **50 Essence + 50,000 Zeny** for **1 New Pet Scroll**, which gives a random C-rank egg. Hatch an egg with a Pet Incubator and take care of its hunger and intimacy.

Base Essence drop chances are **0.25% from ordinary monsters, 2% from boss-mode monsters and 10% from MVPs**. A successful MVP Essence drop gives **1–3 Essence**. These Essence categories are separate from the automation map policy.

### Essence charms

| Charm | Requirements                         | Essence drop-rate boost |
| ----- | ------------------------------------ | ----------------------- |
| I     | 10 Essence + 100,000 Zeny            | +25% relative           |
| II    | 25 Essence + Charm I + 250,000 Zeny  | +50% relative           |
| III   | 50 Essence + Charm II + 500,000 Zeny | +100% relative          |

These percentages multiply the Essence chance; they are not percentage-point additions and do not mean a guaranteed drop. Equip the charm to use its bonus.

## Combination outcomes

| Attempt | Eggs consumed | Zeny    | Combination succeeds | Rank-up after success | Overall rank-up chance |
| ------- | ------------- | ------- | -------------------- | --------------------- | ---------------------- |
| C → B   | 5             | 100,000 | 70%                  | 25%                   | 17.5%                  |
| B → A   | 3             | 250,000 | 80%                  | 15%                   | 12%                    |
| A → S   | 2             | 500,000 | 85%                  | 5%                    | 4.25%                  |

The combination and rank-up checks are separate. **Failure gives a target-rank Soul Fragment**. A successful combination without a rank-up returns **one random egg of the original rank**. A successful rank-up returns one egg of the next rank.

Use unhatched eggs and review the selected quantities. Consumed eggs and Zeny are the cost of the attempt, not a refundable deposit. Keep inventory space and weight available for any possible reward.

**S-rank reroll:** combine two eligible S-rank eggs for one S-rank egg. The result avoids the two consumed types where the pool permits.

## Fragment exchange

Open **Fragment Exchange** in the Pet UI. **25 matching Soul Fragments** buy one Guaranteed Pet Spirit Scroll of that rank. The scroll guarantees the rank, not a specific pet.

## Current pet bonuses

Bonuses below apply through the active pet system; owning an unhatched egg alone does not equip a pet bonus.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://bloodlust-ro.gitbook.io/bloodlust-ro-docs/custom-systems/collection-and-account/pet-system.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
